I may have to temporarily lift my boycott on all things Marvel to see this movie now...

Two things occur to me.
1. For a nominally Christian group, the CCC sure seems to be worried about Pagan mythology being portrayed accurately.
2. If they're so concerned about Marvel Comics teaching their children the proper values, why haven't they been protesting Peter Parker making a deal with the Devil to erase his marriage from history?
I think they are offend because a Norse god can choose his appearance. And some one actually choose to be black. It boggles and troubles (and other board games) their minds.
ReplyDeleteAs for the deal with the devil, it is ok, since it isn't divorce.
Reading that article, I think 'Googlebater' is my new word.
ReplyDeleteThe reference to 'Stan "Lee" Lieber' is odd; I've never heard Stan Lee called 'Lee Lieber.' Why not go with 'Stanley "Stan Lee" Lieber,' since they're apparently trying to play up that oh noes he's a Jew!
Ha! Zing!
ReplyDeleteI don't know.
ReplyDeleteYou did just bring to mind an interesting point. Are they going to boycott the Captain America movie, since he was created by two Jewish men (Joe Simon and Jack Kirby... or should I say, Joseph H. Simon and Jacob Kurtzberg?!), subverting the Aryan ideal for their anti-Aryan propaganda?
They may just see the Red Skull as a new spokesman for their cause. Poor Hugo was supposed to start a revolution with V, not this.
ReplyDeleteI think it's terrible that they would make this casting decision, it spoils Marvel's record of unimpeachable scholarship and 100% accuracy in portraying Norse mythology.
ReplyDeleteHar Har Har. I see what you did there.
ReplyDeleteSee, I always wanted the revolution to be touched off by The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
ReplyDelete(Eddie Izzard Voice) It would be the most FANTASTIC revolution ever!
They should have cast Brett Farve, god knows he wants a viking funeral after he dies in battle and rapes a bunch of women.
ReplyDeleteAh racists, they never protest the stuff you hate.
ReplyDeleteWell, in my case they are... but in this case I'm siding with Marvel.
ReplyDeleteSee? The world didn't come to an end!
... yet.
Ha! You're lucky I get forced to watch just enough sports news to get that line.
ReplyDeleteI am in Farve country, my town is fifty fifty for Bears and Packers, so I have to hear about him pretty much daily. I wish I didn't.
ReplyDeleteI hear you. Thanks to where I live, I now know more about the personal life of Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo than I ever cared to learn.
ReplyDeleteEh, it's not quite 2012...
