Pfft. I didn't read it all until decades after, & I remember when it was first-run. It's not like they went into schools & said, "Read this or fail English!" ... What I'm thinking is that here we have an attempt to take an existing work & change it to "classic" movie shots. Which makes it strikingly derivative of something which is not the source material. Not that Watchmen was all that inventive in shot structure, I guess. I do like Rorschach's mask, even if I watch it wondering if the shifts are right for his face's heat distribution....
