Warner Brothers hates kittens and joy...

SOURCE: DC Animated Projects Canceled

The Bad News: Warner Brothers has not only canceled plans for sequels to the animated Green Lantern and Wonder Woman movies - they have canceled plans for ALL the proposed projects based on DC Comics properties, including adaptations, of Batgirl: Year One, Batman: Hush, Batman: The Long Halloween and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.

The Worse News: Despite this, Judd Winick's Batman: Under The Hood is STILL coming out.

  1. Well, I know a lot of Jason Todd fans, and I'm happy for them, so I don't see how that's "worse news". Not that I wouldn't rather see a Wonder Woman sequel or Batgirl Year One personally.

  2. Heh. Just playing up the legendary feud.
It does suck anyway you slice it, though. And my hopes for a Kingdom Come animated film just got dashed.

  4. Eh, I don't know. As a comic, Under the Hood started well. It ended horribly, since it was forced to cross over with Infinite Crisis. Aside from the "Superboy reality punch" explaination, I was kinda digging it.
As for the news? Fuck you, Warner Bros. Fuck you with a giant effing Bugs Bunny carrot.

  5. I had such hopes for the animated projects. Unlike live action theatrical releases they could stick closer to the source material. With all the savings on effects and voice acting they could take risks.

  6. Odd, I thought Paul Dini said that there were already two more animated series - one in production, the other to be released.

Dini: I'm not currently allowed to talk about that, not in great detail anyways. The people in charge of publicity at WB control what we say with an iron fist! We are however hoping to make two very exciting announcements soon. We have one feature in development and one that’s being animated right now.

  8. I did make an Ipod nano joke when I saw the daleks and I honestly was like yawn Daleks, And ONE SHOULD NEVER BE YAWN ABOUT THE DALEKS. I loved the Jammy Dodger. It was brilliant. Also.. I'd like a break from the crack already, one break. Its like.. oh end of episode there's the damn crack... which obiviously has to do with Amy's not knowing about a dalek. I loved that bit where she was all, "oooooooh Daleks" Honestly though despite issues with the new doctor, not everyone can just leap into the role as quick and as nimbly as nine and ten did, I'm still willing to let him grow into the role. I think he was screwed a bit as soon as he signed up for the gig. Still for all its faults, better than a lot of crap on tv. Oh as for Winny, that my dear is Ian McNeice. He was in Rome as the Town Cryer, and honestly it was brilliant and he was brilliant having some of the best lines in that entire series for a character that really stood apart from the main story.

  9. I know... I know... I'm not a TT fan and even I wanted to see it. If only to show all my teens who grew up on Teen Titans Go! how it was in the comics.

  10. Yeah, but animation itself is awfully expensive and while the cost is mitigated somewhat in a television series (22 minutes of show vs a 90 minute movie), it's still an expensive endeavor when the bottom line is considered.

  11. I understand animation is expensive but I was thinking in terms of what a live action movie costs.

  12. Yeah, can't they understand things like that are important?!
